My Muse
I've been thinking a lot about support in the last few days. I was overwhelmed by the support I received at the book launch last week. It really got to me. In fact I didn't sleep a wink on Thursday night I was so excited! I think it's so important for me because I spent so much of my life wanting to be independent, wanting to do things 'my way'. So I didn't let people support me. In fact I probably upset many people by spurning their help. I only hope that they realised that I wasn't rejecting them personally.
I've no idea where my fiercely independent streak comes from, but I do remember saying from an early age that I felt the best thing my parents did for me was give me my independence. And I notice that it's been passed onto the next generation too. My sons are both very independent, and I have an opinion that maybe they can be 'too' independent, that the level of independence doesn't always serve them best.
I'm reminded of the quote, unfortunately I can't remember who said it, and I can't find in my quotations book or on line, but it is:
"You can't do it on your own, and nobody can do it but you"
It seems to me it really is about getting the balance right on the independence-support-dependence continuum. And I must have a real aversion to 'dependence' so much so that I veered away from support to independence.
I wonder if this is a common situation? Do you have an aversion to something that it sends you in a direction that's a bit extreme and doesn't serve you? I would be very interested to hear from you.
My News
I don't know if I mentioned it at all, but I have written and published a book! We had a fantastic party to launch the book and also celebrate our 22nd wedding anniversary; it was a very special night. If you were there, thank you once again for your support, I really do value it.
Book Recommendation
Hmmm, what do you think it is this month?
Yes, of course, there's only one book that I'm talking about at the moment:
T
he Easiest Way to Double Your Profits by Nick Simmonds.
The book is designed to support you to create your own success. It’s not prescriptive, I wouldn't dream of telling you what to do. It is however a structure to bring out of you all the motivation you need, total clarity, a plan of action, and a system to keep you on course until you and the success you desire, meet.
It's ironic that I have spent a year writing a book which I feel is the best way I can support people to create their own success, and still not notice how important support is! The phrase: we teach what we most need to learn, springs to mind! So let's support each other please buy the book if not for you, then maybe as a present for someone, and we all benefit!
I have created a new webpage with all the information about the book, an extract, and the ability to purchase. All you need to do is click here
