Why is it
that when we are
faced with
choices, we
consciously or
unconsciously
duck the big
opportunities in
favour of doing
what we think we
can achieve? Why
is it that so
many of us have
given up on what
we could achieve
and settled for
what we think we
can get?
You may be the exception to this rule. I thought I was! But I've looked at it again and accepted there are many times when I allow limiting ideas and thoughts to affect me and my behaviour. Our behaviour is so affected by the thoughts and feelings we have. Because we don't like to feel 'bad we do whatever we can to avoid the feeling. We tell ourselves not achieving something would make us feel bad, so we don't try to achieve that goal, we aim for something lower, something 'achievable'.
So we don't stretch ourselves and we kid ourselves that we are happy. But how happy could we be if we really did stretch ourselves? Achieved an amazing goal? And why do we think that we would feel bad if we didn't achieve the goal? That's another 'idea' we have. But it's just a thought. It isn't the 'truth'. But we treat it like it is. We make our ideas so important that our behaviour has to fit in with it. The only thing that produces results is action, but if your action is clouded or distorted by limiting ideas, the likely result is a lower achievement than you are capable of.
This is why I love coaching. The coach is free of your limiting beliefs (don't think they don't have plenty of their own though!) and can point out to you when your ideas are holding you back. The result most of the time is far greater results than were dreamed of before.
If you would like to achieve more than you believe is possible, call me and I'll demonstrate to you how your thoughts are holding you back, and hopefully give you the opportunity of freeing yourself from this self-imposed prison. (And if you are having thoughts saying things like: I don't need this, or it doesn't apply to me, that's the first thought that's limiting you!)
My
News
I've been asked to run a course on public speaking. So I've spent some time over the Christmas break to write a Public Speaking Masterclass. Do you know anyone who is able to communicate well on a one to one basis, but has difficulty when that number increases? Surveys have shown that public speaking is the number one fear, higher than dying! And there is no reason to let your fears stop you from being as successful as you can be. The Masterclass will be held on Monday evenings (13, 20 27 Feb, 13 20 27 March) at the Harrow Arts Centre. The price is £225 for 6 evenings, and if you reply fast, you will qualify for an early-bird discount price of £195. Email me back if you're interested.
