Museletter  - August 2006

My Muse

I had a lovely time last Saturday at a wedding. During the service there was a reading in French with a translation in English of a beautiful poem. I don't know the origination, but I wanted to share it with you.

To love is to share words, looks, hopes, and fears.

Love is never a constraint.

Love is joy, freedom, strength.

Love is uplifting, it makes us enthusiastic.

Love is taking a risk.

To Love and be Loved, we should not protect or hide our feelings.

Love is generosity, Love is abundance, Love is sharing.

Those who give much receive as much in return.

For we possess what we give.

To Love is not to harm or dominate, it is to accompany and help each other every step of the way.

To Love is to accept the other person as they are.

It is to rejoice in their happiness.

It is to love them in their entirety: for their plainness or beauty, with their weaknesses and greatness of personality.

These are love's requirements.

For Love is a virtue of tolerance, forgiveness, and respect.

If you know the origins of the poem, I would love to know it so I can give due credit!

 My News

I am contemplating writing a new book on the subject of Values and how they can lead us to happiness. The reason most of us are not happy, or as happy as we can be is we don't live our lives in accordance with our values. I think the main reason for this is that most of us are not aware of what our values are, or indeed what values are.

The value of love is a perfect example. Because of it's ubiquity, it means so many things to so many people. (Which is why I find the poem above so great) But most people would struggle to define love or the difference between honesty and integrity, or sensitivity and empathy.

This would be the main thrust of the book, explaining what values are, how we can use them, and then give descriptions, definitions, maybe examples of values. The reason I mention this is I would like some support. Are you aware of any other books on this subject? Or books that I should read before embarking on this project? I would be most grateful for any feedback.

Reminder - My website has been revamped and updated, with lots of new content on the 'Free Stuff' page. It has a new free goals report program you can do and an opportunity to win a copy of my book The Easiest Way to Double Your Profits. Opportunity to Contribute

I found this amazing website, www.idealist.org which is a clever play on words because it's both a list of ideas, and a site for idealists who want to make the world a better place. Many of the ideas are big projects which can inspire you, but remember you don't have to travel across the world to make a difference. You can make it each day in the place where you live and work.
